Unlike a care home where many individuals have to be considered, live-in care is a personal one-to-one service that is tailored to the needs of each individual. Live-in Care FAQs

What tasks will my care worker carry out?

We agree a ‘Care Plan’ which details exactly what you have instructed us to do. This then becomes the work list for each day. As part of our ongoing and unique relationship with pharmacies, we are also able to assist or administer your medication.

  • Older people who need some help with getting up in the morning, or going to bed.
  • Couples who would like some assistance for their partner such as keeping on top of household chores.
  • People who are physically disabled and who need assistance with the things that their disability prevents them from doing entirely by themselves.
  • People who have fairly constant care needs but do not wish to go into residential care frequently choose our Live-in Care Service.
  • Sometimes when someone has been discharged from hospital after illness or an operation, they will contact us for short term help until they are feeling fit enough to regain their old lifestyle.
  • We provide respite care – a service for people who rely on a relative or friend for most of their care but would like to give that person a break from time to time.
  • Many people prefer some time out from home and would like someone to take them out for a couple of hours or for a day’s shopping.
  • Sometimes a weekly pampering session appeals to both young and old alike – with the chance to distress and increase well being.

Blessing Agencies is able to offer care to children and their families either on an on-going basis or simply for respite care from time to Care plans frequently evolve and we check regularly to ensure that the care we are providing is appropriate.

Is there anything that my care worker is not able to do?

Once we have established exactly what you want on each visit, we will work to that list. We are not able to give injections or change sterile dressings. Also, we cannot carry out tasks which are likely to cause risk to either the person we provide care to or to the Blessing Agencies Care worker. Tasks will be agreed with you in advance. Any changes to the plan can be discussed with your local Blessing Agencies Care team.

Will I have the same care worker each day?

This depends on how many care visits you have each week. We very rarely have just one care worker assigned to a particular customer. This allows for periods of time where your care worker may be away on holiday; however we do try to keep the number of your care workers to an absolute minimum.

Will someone visit my home before starting the services?

Yes, a comprehensive Care Assessment will be conducted to ensure that the package of care we produce is fully tailored to the needs of the client.

The assessment will take approximately 1 hour and will include an assessment of care needs and a general risk assessment for the location where the care service will be provided.

The findings of the assessment will form the basis of the care plan and will detail in-depth information which the care provider will follow when delivering your care. Blessing Agencies Ltd have a legal responsibility to ensure that a care plan is in every home in which their care services are being delivered and to also ensure that they are regularly reviewed.

As well as allowing us to officially record all of our clients’ care needs, the assessment also gives us a clearer understanding of any personal requirements, therefore enabling us to select healthcare professionals with skills that are best suited to our service user’s needs, personality and preferences.

What about my personal security?

Every member of the Blessing Agencies team has been through a rigorous vetting procedure before they start working with us. In addition, all staff will always be in uniform and carry a personalised identification card which shows their name, photograph and signature.

How can I be sure that my care worker will stay the full period of the care visit and carry out all the tasks?

We take a considered and comprehensive approach to ensuring that your care service is exactly what is required. After every visit the care worker will write the details of activities undertaken during the visit in the care record (which is retained by the customer). In addition, the customer is asked to record their satisfaction by signing the care worker’s timesheet, which is returned to the Blessing Agencies office each week for checking.

How much does Blessing Agencies services cost and can I get any help with the fees?

We will put together a detailed plan for each customer which, as well as setting out the care to be delivered, also shows the weekly costs. Some people will be entitled to assistance with the cost of their care either from their local Social Services office or via other Government grants.

How do I pay for my care?

We will send you a bill once a fortnight. If you wish to pay by standing order (to save you having to remember to write out a cheque) just let us know.

What happens when the office is closed?

Our offices are normally open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Aside from this, we operate an out-of-hours emergency service which is manned from 7am to 10pm. The number for your out of hour’s service can be provided for your reassurance, with someone at the end of the telephone line to assist with any emergencies about your care.

What safeguards do I have?

Blessing Agencies Home Care is registered with the local registration body in England in which we operate. We also full member with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA), Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC). This enables us to supply our clients with the best and highest quality healthcare professionals.

We also carry Public Liability insurance (M 25).

Our live-in care service is based on you and your Carer being able to have a good night sleep. Should you need support throughout the night, your Carer can be called upon up to three times. For those whose needs during the night are more complex, we offer a 24 hour care service; this is explained in more detail below.

Continuity of care is one of the key strengths of our homecare service. This is achieved by minimising the number of Carers assigned to each care package. As part of our live-in care service, we will provide you with two, and in some cases three, suitable Carers to work on a rota basis. Whilst our rotas are tailored to suit your requirements, many timetables follow a fortnightly rotation, an example of which is seen below.

24 Hour Care

Our 24 hour care service supports individuals who require a significant level of support throughout the day and night.

This option is also suited to those who do not have the room available for an additional person to sleep overnight and still require care, or those who would prefer not to have a Carer move in with them.

We can arrange for a Carer to look after your care needs during the day, and another Carer to be with you throughout the night. Carers will handover at a time suitable to you. Both Carers will be able to support you with any personal care requirements that you may have, as well as lending a helping hand with household chores.
